Kids' Sunday

Kids' Sunday
Kids' Sunday will be on Sept 7th. That is about 1 month from promotion Sunday (aug 10). I will be preaching the sermon. We'll have Chad and the band lead worship with possibly a few kids in the praise team. They will do some of the songs from kids' church.
We need someone to organize and direct servers for that morning.
If we do kids in the praise team, we'll need someone to practice with them.
Same thing if we want involve kids in a skit.
The first thing we need to do though is decide on a theme. Thoughts?

Kid's Sunday
Just something to think about...I know that I as a parent have certain thoughts about what a Youth Sunday might entail. I was somewhat confused by our conversation the other night on this because I took comments made that the Youth Sunday was to be set up for the kids to receive "church" on that particular Sunday at a level that was appropriate for them. In my opinion we do this EVERY Sunday in our Kid's Church program and hopefully our kids are already taking part in this since it is directed at their instructional level (unfortunately this is not always the case). From a parent's side I don't know what exactly goes on (if I were a parent who was not helping in kid's church) during this hour and Youth Sunday would be a prime time to show this off...doing some of the songs that the kids love, video or pictures of things going on in Kid's Church, telling about something that they've learned, or a neat/unique lesson/activity that the kids especially loved doing. This would serve many different purposes...showing parents what their kids are actually doing, enticing other kids to possibly give kid's church a try, and letting our kids apply some of the things that they have learned.
Maybe I simply misunderstood and maybe what I am envisioning is not really what we are looking for with our church service hour, but just thought I would chime in...

Re: Kids' Sunday
I agree, we could add some elements of Kids church. I doubt we'll be able to work in a craft. We could definitely use the advertisement.

Kids Sunday
I really like " fallen"s" thoughts on Kidz Sunday. I always find that when we are teaching our children that we are being taught ourselves. The teacher is usally the one that gets the most from the lesson. I would love to see KIdz church upstairs. I think that whole concept is exciting. I want to see what my grandaughter is learning, or could be learning , so that I can reinforce this things in our daily lives.
Along that line, I think it would a cool thing to have Parent Day in Kids Church , where you invite the Parent's down to kids church, so maybe you get the child and the parent can believe in the concept of their child being taught on their level. (duh)
This just seems to me of encouraging people to see all that Glenview has to offer to all ages. I would wonder though, how to involve much more of little ones , since alot of them go to SS but don't attend the youth services. I would love to see all the little ones visual in the service. Because it is "KIDS SUNDAY". YOU simply can't not go wrong to a parent when their child is being honored. I have told Lisa Brummett before, when she has led the children's musical, it doesn't matter how well the kids perform , they are kids and we love whatever they try to do. Lisa can't do any wrong. ... Just my thoughts on the day.

I like where this is going
First of all, AWESOME (all caps = really awesome) idea on parents day in Kids' Church! That may be the push we need to drive up excitement in there.

servers
joshH, can you organize servers again? the bosse boys, wade boys, ben james, matt davis, harrison davis, and gunner eaton are some you might ask. try to get them confirmed at least 2 weeks ahead of time. We only need them for 2nd service. Can you also make sure the first service servers know that it is business as usual for them. Thanks
